I’ve been struggling with this decision I needed to make for the past 24 hrs. For those of you who attend Liquid know about the Party on the Green, raising money and giving away money to build wells in Africa to provide clean drinking water, etc. So I’d like to just summarize what was talked about this past Sunday to catch everyone up and if I missed anything for those of you who were at Liquid please speak up in the comments.
This Sunday Tim was pretty much talking about those in need. And in all honesty I don’t remember much of what was said. But I do remember specifically about him talking about everything going on over in Africa. There are families over there that don’t have a proper source of water. In fact they are drinking from dirty, muddy water. With out the proper clean water they need, they cannot drink, or even have proper medical care. So to make a difference in many peoples lives in Africa Liquid Church has partnered with Charity Water to bring wells to these people.
One of the ways Liquid is helping out is by throwing this huge summer party in Morristown on the green. There will be music, food, face painting for kids, an opportunity to walk with two Gerry cans filled with water to experience what those in Africa go through daily. For every person who does, Liquid is giving money away to these people to build wells and to provide clean water. But not only that they are also selling gas for 99 cents for a period of time during the day. This all sounds fund and great and I want to go or at least wanted to go. But there is one problem, it’s during the first weekend of August and that’s when I’m suppose to go up to Upstate New York for the weekend for this big party up there.
When I found this out I started thinking about it for 24 hrs straight knowing I needed to make a decision soon. I needed to decide if I should go Upstate or should I stay in Jersey. I struggle with this until about now. I decided to stay in Jersey and make a difference in peoples lives. I’m passing up the partying, and the craziness that will happen in New York (And when I say craziness I meant it in a good way) to help out at this event. I know I’m going to be disappointing many people who are going upstate and even for those that live there. But at the same time I think you guys can understand my decision.
I just feel like this is the right thing to do. The more I think about it, the more excited I become about this event in Morristown. There’s just something about doing events like this that just fills my heart with joy and I don’t know why. When I was in England and we did this big even called Merseyfest it was amazing to see what God was doing there, how He was just bring everyone together to have a good time. But not only that it was inspiring to see everyone working together to make this event happen.
Every day I think about the friends I made over there and how lucky I am to still have those friends in England and I look forward to the day when I’m able to go back over there and reunite, have a good time and make a difference again. I’m hoping this event that Liquid is having will be the same, will introduce some great people into my life, and will forever be remembered.
